Welcome to The Rotten Egg

Your trusted eggspert when it comes to everything valuable and rare - since 2025.

We have the most eggselent deals and our items are guaranteed not to be the kind of cheap copy a 2-year-old could crank out with crayons.

But hey, I’m not the real star here. Somewhere around this place you’ll find my cat — and trust me, you can’t miss him. Everyone knows (well, kinda) that black cats bring the best luck, so consider him your secret buff

Ps. There’s a shady dude lurking around offering easy money. If you take it, make sure you spend it on the good stuff... otherwise, good luck paying him back.

PPS. Don’t worry if you die — the guy has killer one-liners, so at least you’ll go out in an epic manner

How to play

The goal is simple: spot the fakes, grab the real deals.

Check the info on your tablet carefully. The trick is to compare

The item itself,

its name and

its estimated value.

Anything feels off? It’s probably a cheap copy.

When you’re ready to bid, hit one of the three signs at the bottom to raise your bid by the marked amount.
But watch out — you’re not the only one in the auction. The mysterious "AI " wants everything, so stay cool and outplay them.

Small developer note

This is my first ever published game, made for the JameGam47.

The jams theme was Cheap Copy and the special item was Egg.

Massive thanks to Celthyan for making the music, go check him out: Celthyan Music

And a shoutout to moldu for making some of the items and their cheap copies.

If you enjoyed this little project, I’ve got more in the works — so drop a follow if you wanna see what hatches next.

Nice textures and sound effects good job

Overall a nice entry to a 48h jam.
AI behavior could be a bit less predictable and it would be nice to have a look at the pieces for sale before starting the game - perhaps along with the intro directly from the main menu?
Otherwise - it kept me playing for about 30 min, which is rather much for me when playing jam games.
